The White North

The White North

The White North, an empty dwarven hold carved into a snowy mountain above a small forge village

Where North of Meridia, beyond Thessaly
Land Always snowy; tundra
People The dwarves
Notable Stonedeep, Bram Ironfoot's birthplace

Locked The always-snowy, tundra-like north of Meridia, and the home of the dwarves. In ancient times a dwarven kingdom stood here. Now only a few dwarf villages are left.

The dwarves

Locked The old dwarven kingdom has fallen into memory. Its old holds, city-fortresses carved into the Frostfang Mountains, are mostly empty shells now. A few villages, Stonedeep among them, still work the forges. The dwarves are known for steel, stonework and deep-mined metals (R-030).

Open What ended the dwarven kingdom, and when.

Stonedeep

Locked One of the last working dwarf villages, and the birthplace of Bram Ironfoot. Its ore ran out a generation ago, and half its people went south to work the roads.

DM only

DM projection for the Age of Ribbons: Stonedeep smiths, paid in Lantern Road silver, copy Eleven's drawings of the revolver into the first crude "thunder-tubes".

The Gloom

Draft A dormant mystery: old northern tales speak of a grey fog called the Gloom that once rolled down from the high peaks and woke things best left asleep. Nobody living has seen it.
