The wider world

Meridia is bigger than Aldoria and Kaelen. Around the two realms lies a ring of lands that mostly profit from, fear, or ignore their quarrel.

Locked Tone stays grounded: trade, politics and people first. The farther from the centre, the more room for legend, and stranger things belong only at the edges of the map.

                    THE WHITE NORTH
                 (dwarves, snow and tundra)
                           |
GREY WALL - DROWNED ISLES - WESTERN OCEAN - TIDE CITIES - ALDORIA = mountains = KAELEN - THE GRASS SEA
                                       (Westhaven) (nomad clans)
                           |
SOUTHERN SEA - THE SUNWARD ISLES

beyond the Burning Straits: THE OLD SOUTH
Place What it is
The Tide Cities Free merchant city-states west of Aldoria. Under Kaelen rule
Westhaven The westernmost port of Meridia, where the Farrow expedition sailed from and came back to
The Grey Wall The fog wall far off the western coast: the end of the world
The Drowned Isles An eerie line of sunken coral and shipwrecks just this side of the Wall, with a dead lighthouse
The Sunward Isles Tropical islands to the south: once pirates and slavers, now the refugees' hope
The Old South An unexplored jungle continent beyond the Sunward Isles
The Grass Sea Dry savannah east of Kaelen, roamed by nomad clans
The White North Snow and tundra in the north: the home of the dwarves

Beyond the Grey Wall lies Farrow.

A real-world comparison

Think of the Mediterranean around 1500. The big powers fought in the middle, while Venice and Genoa lent to both sides, North African corsairs raided the sea lanes, and the edges of the map still said "here be dragons".
