Locked Queen of Aldoria in her own right, and the last of House Aldor. A crowned queen with no kingdom, hiding on a cold coast with a husband she has just learned was a Lotus assassin.
Appearance and manner¶
Dark-haired, still and sharp. Lyra doesn't perform. Where other royals smile for the room, she watches it. Courtiers who mistake her quiet for softness learn otherwise. She was educated in court Kaelen and can follow an envoy's asides without letting on.
History¶
The heir. Lyra was King Aldor IV's only child. By Aldorian custom a young, unmarried heir weds before she is crowned, so her hand was the realm's real prize. Archon Archon Solaris meant to marry her to Sir Cassian Corvane Corvane and rule through her. On an anonymous tip from "Lord Trevor", she armed herself against the match.
The betrothal. She told Trevor twice, "one day you'll tell me what's under the coat," and stood with him regardless. Their betrothal was read at a morning court under the King's seal in spring 903 AP, shortly before "the one morning", and it blocked the Church's plan for good.
The Queen. After her father died, Lyra was crowned in her own right, with Tristen as King-Consort. For three years she ruled well and genuinely, and she was a popular young queen. Before the war she met Alyssa Kruger at Midwinter in Solis.
The fall. When Solis fell to Kaelen after a hard siege, Lyra and the King-Consort escaped and were never captured. For two years they hid while the Lotus hunted them, largely because Four, "the Listener" searched "exactly as hard as I wished to".
At the start of Campaign Three¶
A message reaches her through four pairs of hands and a fishing boat. She reads it standing up, speaks of Alyssa, then reads the rest and burns it: "They know your name." From that message she has also learned what her husband was. That conversation hasn't happened yet.
Relationships¶
- Tristen: loves him, and knows only the name "Tristen", not the history behind it. There has always been a wall between them.
- Vesper: her spymaster, though Vesper's deepest loyalty is to Tristen.
- Alyssa Kruger: "She never lied to me. Not once. I found it unbearable at the time."
DM only
Can she rule beside the Ninth? Can a kingdom rally behind him? That question is the first central tension of Campaign Three.
