Lord Marshal Vaelen
| Titles | Captain of the Shield-Guard; later Lord Marshal |
| Loyalty | The Crown |
| Died | When Solis fell, 908 AP |
| Status | Dead |
Locked Grey, scarred and scrupulously loyal. Once Captain of the Royal Shield-Guard, later Lord Marshal of Aldoria's armies.
Campaign One¶
As Captain of the The Royal Shield-Guard, Vaelen spoke for the King's household on the The Royal Council. He owed Lord Trevor the King's life, and on "the one morning" he took the poisoned goblet on his own initiative. He acted rather than watched. He never knew the face under Trevor's mask.
Lord Marshal¶
After Solaris fell, Vaelen replaced the elderly Lord Marshal Geoffrey Stane as Lord Marshal. When Kaelen attacked at the spring new moon, he held Hollowpass with Captain Captain Dorne, Lord Ardent's 800 and the King-Consort.
Death¶
Locked When Solis fell in 908 AP, Vaelen was killed defending the Queen, holding the way so that Lyra and the King-Consort could escape. They got out and were never captured. He died as he had served: acting, not watching.
