Locked The last king of Aldoria. Poisoned by his own Archon, secretly cured by a dead assassin, and remembered for walking into open court on "the one morning".
Reign¶
Early in his reign Aldor IV granted the The Order of the Sun its modern charter. About 20 years before Campaign One he fought the last war against Kaelen to a standstill, the war that burned Ashmar. His line grew thin: one child and no cadet branches of note.
The poisoning¶
Archon Archon Solaris poisoned him slowly with Kaelen Pale Lotus root, so the Archon could rule as Regent. Under the incapacity law, the Royal Council governed in the dying King's name, and the Church took its streets. Tristen, as Lord Trevor, switched the King's medicine and cured him in secret. The antidote reached him through Captain Vaelen and Princess Lyra, and Vesper ran the fortnightly cure. The poison itself came from Grandmaster Vane. Solaris didn't learn of the cure until the last moment. The King also signed the betrothal of Lord Trevor and Lyra in secret, and Solaris bribed physicians to swear he was of unsound mind. For over a year the King played dying where the Church could see, clear-minded and furious.
The one morning¶
The recovered King walked into open court, ratified the truce with Captain Sarith, voided the Church's power grab, and exposed the conspiracy. The incapacity law returned his full authority the moment he was shown to be of sound mind. Lord Marshal Vaelen took the poisoned goblet on his own initiative.
Death¶
He died of age within the three years of peace. The poison had cost him too much. He saw the man who saved him as a sharp, loyal Marcher in a fool's coat, never as Ghost-9.
