House Corvane

The arms of House Corvane, a black raven holding an iron key on silver

Motto We keep what is given
Seat Merchants' Hill, Solis
Head Lord Ambrose Corvane
Heir Sir Cassian Corvane
Force Mercenaries, as money allows

Locked Bankers rather than landlords. A minor founding house, made great by lending to the Crown.

History

Half-forgotten for centuries, Corvane rose to greatness by financing the Crown in the last war (880 AP) and has been the Church's banker since. Its fortune rests on discretion: it lends to great men and holds the documents they want kept safe. Two Corvane sons served in the Order. It held the third copy of the secret accord, unread, and the accord's release clause let the bank publish it if either signer broke faith. The Tide City banks undercut its loans, and it resents them.

Now

It serves whoever holds power. Under the occupation Lord Ambrose didn't kneel so much as follow the money, and the money went to the Empire.
